[Wojnarowski] Rick Carlisle -- who led Dallas to the 2011 NBA championship -- informed Mavericks owner Mark Cuban today that he won't be returning as coach next season, Carlisle told ESPN. Carlisle had two years left on his contract. He spent 13 seasons as Mavericks coach.

Luka is one of the reasons he’s gone. They didn’t really seem to ever be on the same page. Cuban probably told Rick he was on the hot seat after this season and he decided to move on when there are plenty of coaching options. Plus Rick and Donnie Nelson are good friends so him being fired yesterday definitely played a part.

I didn't buy it either because I had been so used to Rick being our HC I didn't even imagine a day when he would chose to walk away from us. Man has been there through the good days and the bad days, even through our rebuild.
